What is the going rate for a tooth these days? (Parentdish/Huffington Post)

on March 9, 2014

Tooth FairyFor a kid, losing a tooth is a pretty big deal. For a parent, the drama begins when that newly-toothless child goes to sleep – and the tooth fairy is expected to make an appearance.

There seems to be much discrepancy in terms of the going rate for the tooth fairy – which is what inspired this article for Parentdish and the Huffington Post.

  1. Hilarious!! Love the fairy dust and the image of a slightly tipsy mom stumbling around in the dark, trying to find a tooth and leave a coin! You make parenthood seem pretty darn fun!

  2. Hmm. The tooth fairy usually brings a pack of hockey cards and a loonie or toonie depending what she has at hand. Interestingly the Bean doesn’t always put her teeth under her pillow. I think, in part, she’s becoming a little sensitive about all these fairies, men in red suits and bunnies perpetrating break-and-enters and wandering unfettered around our house, regardless of how benevolent their intentions.

    • Hockey cards are a great reward – good idea! Yes, I suppose the Bean is getting to the age where she questions it all a bit more, right?? It’s fun to create the “magic” but it only lasts so long…
